Local golfing star Mike Reynard confirmed for Farmfoods European Legends links Championship

Local golfer Mike Reynard is set to take on Major winners and Ryder Cup stars at this year’s Farmfoods Legends Links Championship.

Truro based Mike will be going head-to-head with sporting greats such as Ian Woosnam OBE, Paul Lawrie OBE and Jean van de Velde where he will play for his slice of at the €50,000 prize fund.

Mike has been given one of the three invites for the event who will be making what is only his second Staysure Tour appearance at the event.

In the late 90s Reynard made his name as an amateur player representing England over 30 times in various competitions. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Justin Rose, Paul Casey and Luke Donald in recent years his golfing career has had to take something of a backseat.

His family moved to Cornwall where he worked as a chef at his own pub and restaurants. He now balances his day job and supports his family while nurturing the budding golf career of his 18-year-old son Joe, who currently plays in the England under 18 team.

Of the debut event, Reynard said: “I’m really looking forward to it. I can’t wait to play against some of the big names who have been confirmed. They’re all great players but I can’t let it phase me. I will just go out there and do what I do. I want to make sure I’m not just playing in the event, that I’m a part of it.

“My plan is to do as well as I can and hope it leads to some other opportunities on the Tour.”
