The Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship gives amateurs the chance to play alongside golfing legends
The Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship is once again giving amateur golfers the chance to rub shoulders with the stars when the event returns in June.
The successful amateurs will have the opportunity to play alongside star names from the sport including 1991 Masters winner and event host Ian Woosnam OBE, 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie OBE, Ryder Cup winning captain Paul McGinley, one of Italy’s greatest ever golfers Costantino Rocca, European Tour winner and Ryder Cup star Peter Baker and two-time European Tour winner Jean van de Velde.
Taking place at Trevose Golf & Country Club close to Padstow, the event has announced two amateur qualifiers with places up for grabs in the Pro-Am and Alliance. The winners will then share the course with Major Championship and Ryder Cup winners between 18 – 21 June.
The first qualifier takes place on Sunday 5 April, with the winning team of three players earning a spot in the tournament’s Pro-Am on the 18th June which gets the event underway. The three winners will be joined by a golfing legend and receive VIP treatment on the day including an invitation to the evening meal which includes a fantastic three-course meal and first-class entertainment.
On Sunday 24 May the Alliance qualifier will take place with the winning amateurs securing a spot in the tournament proper. The two amateurs will have the opportunity to get up close with the professionals in a real tournament environment, each paired with a legend of golf for two rounds on the Friday and Saturday of the tournament. On both days, the winning amateurs will receive a complimentary buffet breakfast and lunch in the VIP players’ lounge.
There will also be prizes for amateurs who finish in second and third place.
